We can recyle our PCs to benefit children in Africa rather than fill our landfills, and thereby help conserve our ecological environment too.

Build & Operate

  • Build and operate the TeleCentre (named ICT Empowerment Centre).

The telecentre provides computers free for use by African children, using free Open Source software that children can learn how to use. The centre will be operational on a daily basis from Monday to Saturday at 8 am to 8 pm. It is open to anybody.

  • Collect old computer equipment & peripherals and then refurbish them for use in Cameroon.

Some computers are used at the telecentre, others are donated to schools. Other software products are also collected.

Provide Support & Services

  • Provide mobile ICT services to rural communities and schools.

Only 5% of the sub-divisions in the Bui Division have computers and/or digital links.

  • Provide computer hardware & software support.

Support coverage is provided by volunteers as well as onsite Training Staffs and Trainees…working at least 6 hrs per day of working days.

 

Teach & Train

  • Partner with other institutions, NGOs, etc. to develop programs for Community development such as the following:
  1. Health care and HIV/AIDS awareness
  2. Women and children's programs
  3. Vocational & Professional Training
  4. On-The-Job Training
  5.  
  • Provide vocational training & certification, diploma and correspondent courses based on ICTs.

The courses range from 1 month to 6 months. The courses are not offered online. TechCeFaCos NGO designed all the training and course programs with the aid of volunteers. One of these is the Computer Literacy Training Program. Since 2004, 556 children (ages 12-21) have already been trained.

Promote & Market

  • Promote & market local cultural products like music, arts, & handicrafts made by Cameroon children.

We sponsor competition where the children of Cameroon develop arts and crafts, which we then collect and polish for durability and marketability. We also provide them with the basic materials.

  • women with computersParticipate in, organize and/or coordinate other community & rural sustainable activities to help alleviate poverty.

One example is the World Prayer for Peace by All Artists. Read more about it on http://www.behleem.com/childrenpeacemusicproject.html.

We conduct workshops where we provide practical case studies on project strategies for interventions aiming to increase the use of technology in rural communities.
