“Let us touch the dying, the poor, the lonely and the unwanted according to the graces we have received and let us not be ashamed or slow to do the humble work.” – Mother Teresa

“Education is the great engine of personal development.

It is through education that the daughter of a peasant can become a doctor, that a son of a mineworker can become the head of the mine, that a child of farm workers can become the president.” - Nelson Mandela - Nobel Prize Winner 1993

“I expect to pass through this world but once; any good thing therefore that I can do, or any kindness that I can show to any fellow creature, let me do it now; let me not defer or neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again.” - Ettiene De Grellet

"If I can stop one heart from breaking, I shall not live in vain. If I can ease one Life the aching, or cool one pain, or help one fainting Robin unto his Nest again, I shall not live in vain." - Emily Dickinson

“Yet one more item is needed to complete success, and that is the rendering of service to others in the community. Without this the mere satisfaction of selfish desire does not reach the top notch.” - Sir Robert Baden-Powell

Computers for Cameroon

computersGift from Canadian Community - This is a joint program of TechCeFaCos NGO (Cameroon & US), and Irishcrows African Foundation (IAF) Canada with the generous support of the entire Canadian community. Donated ICT equipments are serviced, programmed and shipped to promote and enhance sustainable development in African countries. Do you know how old are the computers being used now in Cameroon? They date back to the mid-1990s. In the computer world things change so rapidly. A lot of the computers over there will not run programs such as Windows Vista or Windows XP.

Why throw away landfill-bound computers when somewhere around the world others can use them? There are also toxic substances in computers such as lead and mercury so it is not good for our environment to just throw them away.

TeleCentre

girls with computersThe central focus of this intervention is to set up a centre with low cost technology to serve rural communities in Cameroon with basic ICT public services and social security service delivery as a means for bridging the digital gap and promote the concept of e-democracy. "Shishárshe" (the art of poverty reduction strategy) - We encourage the use of computers, multimedia tools as well as ICTs for providing technical support and micro credit. Doing so will also provide everyone some learning opportunities for basic computer literacy and further the training for specially-talented youths.

We provide a model of basic computer literacy among communities as well as among academic and educational Institutions.

We also install educational software about HIV prevention and agricultural practices.

TeleMobile

Computer scarcity in rural communities is a big problem. To alleviate this and other associated problems, we work to ensure that all rural students are computer literate as well as open to modern working atmosphere and socioeconomic opportunities.
