Find out more about the different components of the Telecentre

Through adoption of a holistic approach, the TeleCentre operational model is well structured based on valuable and practical perspectives that will open a wide window of knowledge as well as a long range of opportunities for underprivileged youth in line with a growing global economy. The main components of this centre are as follows:

Telecom Centre

Offers basic telecom services to all of Cameroon-based telecom operators like: camtel, MTN and Orange. It also promotes telecom services for socioeconomic and educational development through special services like the use of SMS service for disseminating valuable information on health and education issues, Voice Mail service for transmitting voice/audio/sound over ‘community voice mail radio system’. This department will also offer Telecom mobile service such as mobile banking.

Documentation Centre

Office where records are maintained. These include documentation, collection and programming of narratives and/or graphical description of simple and complex documents for publication and/or archiving of private or public use documents in different formats (hardcopy or softcopy).

Community Field Office

An out-reach centre with ICT mobile and postal services as well as electronic services like e-learning and e-commerce for rural communities. It will also facilitate ‘TechCeFaCos and TeleCentre ICTs’ Related Program & Projects’ such as STLP09+, EDUCTAINMENT, TeleAgro etc.

OpenCafé

An out-door relaxation site for open source initiators, developers, promoters and users where they can come together for sharing ideas, publishing/posting, showcasing FOSS products, etc.

Showroom

The daily showroom for creativity and technological exhibition and/or sales of educational, cultural, documentations, documentaries, audiovisual items or products, etc.

Resource Lab

Dedicated for sharing knowledge, capacity building and electronic services for the underprivileged youth, students, teachers etc, through a ‘computer literacy program’ and many other programs that are enhanced by computers hooked with internet, digital library etc.

Multimedia Centre

Handles the multi-production and integration of texts, photos, audios and videos, mostly based on local content heritage, socioeconomic and educational development issues; for ultimate media publication and/or archiving for private or public use.

Internet Café

Sector of the TeleCentre that is directly accessible to the general public for browsing, surfing the web, networking, and email services, etc. Well-qualified cyber attendants will be employed in order to reduce/arrest the risks of cyber crimes like: internet-terrorism, scamming, pornography/dating, etc. These cyber attendants will also  guide/educate the users on the values of computer/internet and importance and usefulness of ICTs for a sustainable development in the field of poverty alleviation.
